Kerala Administrative Service Examination
The Kerala Public Service Commission (Kerala PSC) conducts the Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) examination to recruit candidates for various administrative positions within the state government. The first Kerala Administrative Service (KAS) exam was conducted in 2019. The KAS exam marked a significant step in the state’s administrative reforms, aimed at creating a dedicated state-level civil service for Kerala. Prior to the introduction of the KAS, candidates from Kerala would often appear for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) exam conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) to join the IAS and other central services.

Conducting Authority:
The Kerala Public Service Commission (KPSC) was responsible for conducting the first KAS exam. The KPSC is the agency responsible for recruiting candidates for various government posts in the state of Kerala.
Exam Structure:
The KAS exam consisted of three stages: 1. Preliminary Examination: This was an objective type exam consisting of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). The preliminary exam aimed to shortlist candidates for the main examination. The questions covered topics such as general studies, language proficiency, and aptitude. 2. Main Examination: The main exam was a written examination that tested candidates’ knowledge of various subjects, including language skills, general studies, and specific subjects related to the chosen optional papers. 3. Interview: Candidates who qualified in the main examination were called for a personal interview, where they were evaluated based on their personality, communication skills, and overall suitability for administrative roles.
Syllabus:
The syllabus for the KAS exam covered a wide range of topics, including history, geography, economics, politics, science and technology, ethics, and current affairs. The main examination also included optional subjects that candidates could choose based on their areas of interest and expertise.

The introduction of the KAS exam was significant for Kerala as it marked the creation of a dedicated state-level civil service, designed to address the specific needs and challenges of the state. Eligibility Criteria:
1. Educational Qualification: Candidates typically need a bachelor’s degree in any discipline from a recognized university. Age Limit: The age limit for candidates applying for the KAS exam usually falls within the range of 21 to 32 years. Age relaxations may be applicable for candidates from reserved categories.
KAS Result:
The first KAS result has been released out in 2021. 105 candidates were cleared and selected for the intensive training program.
